WARNING: As documented in multiple news, television and web articles, these devices are non privacy oriented. Use of these devices can expose you to a host of monitoring protocols. While the VPN on these devices will change your IP address, it will not protect you from the device itself. The only way to make these devices protect your personal information is to not use them. We provide the VPN service for these devices as a convenience to customers. We don't actively recommend or support such use.



  • Go to Settings
  • Select Wireless Controls
  • Select VPN Settings
  • Select Add VPN
  • For PPTP, Select Add PPTP VPN
  • For L2TP, Select L2TP/IPSEC PSK VPN
  • At Set a VPN name, enter a descriptive name like Sweden, Panama, Cyprus, Switzerland or Czech Republic
  • At Set VPN, choose the server name for your desired location from the list we provided
  • For L2TP, select Set L2TP secret and enter the preshared key we provided
  • Do not check the the box that says Save Secret
  • Press Menu and Save
  • If asked, enter a password of your own for access to the preshared key in the future


  • Go to Settings
  • Select Wireless Controls
  • Connect to the name you entered above
  • Enter your user name and password
  • Click on Connect
  • A key icon will appear indicating that you are connected

PPTP and L2TP are native to Android devices and is easy to set up. OpenVPN can also be used on these devices but requires downloading an application and significant configuration. If you wish to try OpenVPN on Android see this link.
